Challenge

Coverys relied on document composition software to create and maintain its library of insurance policy documents. That software was nearing end-of-life, and vendor support was winding down.

Future updates, fixes, security alerts, regulatory updates, and critical patches would no longer be available. Coverys needed to replace the system and transition its policy-document operations without disrupting the business or creating a lengthy, labor-intensive migration project.

End-of-Life Software

The legacy document platform was reaching the end of vendor support.

Security and Regulatory Risk

Updates, patches, security alerts, and regulatory updates would no longer be supplied.

Expensive Internal Maintenance

Maintaining and patching home-built legacy systems had become increasingly costly.

Operational Continuity

Coverys needed to migrate hundreds of policy templates without disrupting critical business workflows.

Solution

Coverys established two mandatory requirements for the replacement system. First, the new environment needed to replicate more than 300 existing policy-document templates. Second, it needed to remove the printer limitations of the legacy platform.

Experlogix Document Automation's migration technology converted the legacy document logic while preserving the original code for reference.

Automated Template Migration

Migration technology helped convert the existing policy-document logic into the new environment.

Historical Reference

Original legacy code was preserved so Coverys could research previous states of policy documents.

Migration Preview Portal

Experlogix built a preview portal to make reviewing converted documents easier during migration.

Broader Printer Support

The new platform could support the printers required by Coverys rather than restricting output to one printer brand.

4 Move to Modern Management

Coverys users gain a Microsoft Word-based environment for ongoing template creation and maintenance.

Document ownership moved closer to business users

Coverys specifically wanted a modern environment that could be managed by business users rather than requiring specialized IT professionals for routine document work.

Experlogix Document Automation uses Microsoft Word as the template-authoring environment, giving the Coverys team access to familiar capabilities including sophisticated formatting and embedded tables.
